Mario Benedetti e la sua poesia Non ti arrendere

Mario Benedetti ci ripete: Non ti arrendere, un consiglio che chi frequenta questo blog ha già avuto modo di leggere. L’invito ci arriva da un grandissimo poeta uruguaiano (da non confondere con il poeta udinese Mario Benedetti).

Mario Benedetti (1920-2009), è uno dei massimi scrittori e poeti del ‘900. Uruguaiano, discendente di italiani, è stato drammaturgo, scrittore, poeta e saggista. Ha lavorato come commerciante, contabile, impiegato, giornalista e traduttore. Direttore del Centro di Ricerche Letterarie della “Casa de las Américas” a L’Avana, e del Dipartimento di Letteratura Latinoamericana, all’Università di Montevideo. Dopo il golpe militare del 1973, ha rinunciato all’incarico universitario è stato costretto all’esilio per 12 anni in Argentina, Perù, Cuba e infine in Spagna dove, nel 1999 ha ricevuto il prestigioso Premio di Poesia Reina Sofìa.

Non ti arrendere, sei ancora in tempo
per arrivare e cominciar di nuovo,
accettare le tue ombre
seppellire le tue paure
liberare il buonsenso,
riprendere il volo.

Non ti arrendere perché la vita è così
Continuare il viaggio
Perseguire i sogni
Sciogliere il tempo
togliere le macerie
e scoperchiare il cielo.

Non ti arrendere, per favore non cedere
malgrado il freddo bruci
malgrado la paura morda
malgrado il sole si nasconda
E taccia il vento
Ancora c’è fuoco nella tua anima
Ancora c’è vita nei tuoi sogni.

Perché la vita è tua
e tuo anche il desiderio
Perché lo hai voluto e perché ti amo
perché esiste il vino e l’amore,
è vero.
perché non vi sono ferite che non curi il tempo

Aprire le porte
Togliere i catenacci
Abbandonare le muraglie
Che ti protessero
Vivere la vita e accettare la sfida
Recuperare il sorriso
Provare un canto
Abbassare la guardia e stendere le mani
aprire le ali
e tentare di nuovo
Celebrare la vita e riprendere i cieli.
